Zürich, um 1800. Zinn. Marken des Johann II. Zimmermann (1744–1822). Ringhenkel mit Bajonettverschluss. Schild mit dem Wappen der Familie von Moos graviert. H 37,5 cm.

Das Ritteradelsgeschlecht von Moos stammt aus Uri, ist aber seit dem 14. Jahrhundert auch in Luzern vertreten. Repräsentanten der Familie gewannen in der Politik dieser Stadt rasch an bedeutendem Einfluss. Ab 1680 war die Familie im Eisenwarenhandel tätig und später beteiligte sie sich am Eisengewerbe. Seither ist der Name von Moss mit der Herstellung und dem Handel von Eisenwaren verbunden.
