Menn hat sich wiederholt mit Odysseus beschäftigt und interpretiert hier Homer relativ frei. Er lässt Odysseus am Ufer der Insel Scheria nackt in Rückenansicht aus dem Schilf aufstehen und fasst sein Stranden, bzw. sein ans Ufer steigen, mit der Begegnung von Nausikaa zusammen.
