Die Kronprinzessin von Preussen am Tage der Kronprinzentaufe. Kreidezeichnung auf graugrünem Papier,1882. Unten rechts monogrammiert, bezeichnet und datiert. 47,5x32 cm. -Horizontale Knickspuren. In den Ecken und im Rand mit Reissnagellöchern.

Skizze zum Werners Gemälde „Kronprinzentaufe zu Potsdam 11. Juni 1882 (ehemals Berlin, Hohenzollernmusum, Berlin Monbijou, Kriegsverlust). Werner, der als nichtoffizieller Hofchronist des Deutschen Reiches gelten kann (grossformatige Bilder der Kaiserproklamation 1871, Vom Berliner Kongress 1878 oder von der Reichstageröffnung 1888 u. a. m.) hielt auch die privaten Anlässe der kaiserlichen Familie in seinen etwas pompösen Gemälden fest, so auch die Taufe von Wilhelm v. Preussen (1882-1951), dem ältesten Urenkel Kaisers Wilhelm I. unter Kaisers Anwesenheit. Die sitzende Frau ist die Mutter des Täuflings, Kronprinzessin und spätere Kaiserin Augusta Viktoria v. Schleswig-Hollstein (1858-1921), Ehefrau von Wilhelm II.
